ホーンテッド・マンションでリスニングの練習が出来るはなし

皆さん，こんにちは。

青藍塾代表の澁谷です。

突然ですが，今日はリスニングの良い練習になると思われる音源をYouTubeで見つけたので，皆さんにご紹介したいと思います。

その音源というのが，タイトルにもある通り，ディズニーランドの人気アトラクション「ホーンテッド・マンション」のナレーション音声です。

さすが子どももたくさん訪れるディズニーランドだけあって，明瞭な発音でなおかつ抑揚もついた，とても聴き取りやすいナレーションです。

また，動名詞を用いた慣用表現である，There’s no turning back now. 「今さら戻ることはできない」など，入試にも役立つ文法表現もたくさんあるので，ディズニーランドの雰囲気を楽しみながら，きちんと英語の勉強に役立つ，おすすめの練習音源です。

以下，ナレーションを文字に起こしてみましたので，英文を目で追いながら聞いてみてください。

(なお，リスニングの練習に適しているのは，動画の4分10秒あたりまでだと思うので，そこまでした文字には起こしていません。それ以降は，目を閉じながら乗り物に乗った気分になって，ただディズニーの雰囲気を楽しんでください((笑)))

When hinges creak in doorless chambers, and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls.　Whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still — that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight!

Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion.　I am your host, your ghost host.　

Kindly step all the way in please, and make room for everyone.　There’s no turning back now.　

Our tour begins here in this gallery, where you see paintings of some of our guests as they appeared in their corruptible, mortal state.

Your cadaverous pallor betrays an aura of foreboding, almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis.　Is this haunted room actually stretching?　Or is it your imagination — hmm?　And consider this dismaying observation: this chamber has no windows and no doors… which offers you this chilling challenge: to find a way out!　(笑い声)　Of course, there’s always my way.

Oh, I didn’t mean to frighten you prematurely.　The real chills come later.　Now, as they say, “look alive,” and we’ll continue our little tour.　And let’s all stay together, please.

There are several prominent ghosts who have retired here from creepy old crypts all over the world.　Actually, we have 999 happy haunts here — but there’s room for 1,000.　Any volunteers?　(笑い声)　If you insist on lagging behind, you may not need to volunteer.
