設問3　言語というものには，それを使ったり理解したりする言語能力としての側面と，人間同士がお互いに理解し合うためのコミュニケーション手段としての側面があり，それらのほうがより興味深いから。

設問4　若いチンパンジーには生物学的な言語能力が欠けているため，たとえ人間と交流できる環境下で育てられても，本当の意味で言語を使えるようには決してならない。しかし，人間の子どもであっても，他の人間との交流やコミュニケーションが遮断された環境で育てられれば，やはり言語を使えるようにはならない。
