① In order to improve society, I make it a personal rule to help anyone in trouble. I don’t hesitate to give a hand to people who need my help, such as elderly people carrying heavy baggage or strangers losing their way. When I help those people, they will be happy, and I am also happy because they say thanks to me. What is more, I believe that people who see me helping them can be encouraged to do the same thing to someone else. Therefore, I think that the number of people who are willing to give a helping hand to somebody in trouble will increase, and as a result, the whole society will become a better place to live in. ② One of the things I can do to improve society is to learn more about politics to take action for change by voting. I am not going to major in politics at university, but as a member of our society, active interest and involvement in politics will lead me to understand political and social issues, and to make better decisions for a better society. Recent statistics show that only about a third of the young people in Japan in their teens and twenties took part in a national election. This might have resulted in policies favorable not to young people but to other age groups. Since society consists not only of middle-aged and elderly people but also of young people, social improvement will be realized in a true sense, when we, the youth, take policies seriously and vote for our own sake.
