I don’t think that free trade agreements with other countries are the best way to promote economic growth, and I have three reasons.
First, I think that expanding employment is a more effective way to stimulate economic growth. The more people get a job, the more money they can earn, which will allow them to spend more money, leading to a fast economic growth.
Second, increasing the population is another effective way to achieve economic growth. If more children are born, the amount of money spent on them will increase, and that will stimulate economic growth. Then, if the economy grows and expands, many young people are eager to get married and therefore more babies are likely to be born. These good effects on economic growth are brought about cyclically.
Finally, reducing a consumption tax will also accelerate economic growth. A consumption tax is a sort of tax which represses consumption, so it slows down economic growth. Therefore, there is no doubt that reducing or abolishing the tax will have a positive effect on boosting economic growth.
For these reasons, I don’t agree with the opinion that free trade agreements with other countries are the best way to encourage economic growth.
