I think this work of street art is asking us a question: what distinguishes street art from just graffiti. The definition of art differs dramatically from time to time and from place to place. Banksy may claim that it is more difficult than we think to decide whether it is a work of art and therefore worth preserving or not. A lot of works of art may have been lost or erased so far without people realizing their true value. By drawing this work, Banksy may warn about such ignorance. (90 words)
/ Banksy's image shows a government worker erasing the famous Lascaux cave paintings. This would never happen in real life. These paintings are an important World Heritage Site. Banksy is suggesting that modern street art is as important a part of our culture as these prehistoric paintings were to that of their creators. I disagree with this idea. Most modern street art is trivial and antisocial. Good citizens want it to be removed. By contrast, the Lascaux cave paintings had profound spiritual meaning for the society in which they were made.
