Japan is in the second place in this chart and I think there are some reasons for that. One of them can be attributed to the cultural differences among the countries. For example, compared with people of Western countries, the Japanese and the Korean tend to think that men should work outside and women should stay at home working as a housewife. On the other hand, in Western countries, women are considered as equal to men and so they should work outside as well. These cultural differences are reflected in salary and official positions, therefore causing the gender gap in median earnings of full-time employees. (105 words)
